Once a person is caught by belief in a doctrine, one loses all one's freedom. When one
becomes dogmatic, that person believes his or her doctrine is the only truth and that all other doctrines are heresy.
Disputes and conflicts all arise from narrow views. They can extend endlessly, wasting precious time and sometimes even leading to war. Attachment to views is the greatest impediment
to the spiritual path. Bound to narrow views, one becomes so entangled that it is no longer possible
to let the door of truth open.
I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have, beautifully expressed with much authority, by someone recognized wiser than oneself - Marlene Dietrich

The DALAI LAMA
The purpose of all the major religious traditions
is not to construct big temples on the outside,
but to create temples of goodness and compassion inside,
in our hearts.

RABINDRANATH TAGORE
I have spent my days stringing and unstringing my instrument while the song I came to sing remains unsung.

Watch your thoughts for they become words.
Watch your words for they become actions.
Watch your actions for they become habits.
Watch your habits for they become character.
Watch your character for it becomes your destiny.
Watch your words for they become actions.
Watch your actions for they become habits.
Watch your habits for they become character.
Watch your character for it becomes your destiny.

Att. to many sources
I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good thing therefore that I can do now, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow-creature, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.

MI TAKU OYASIN
I saw of course the cliff,
I saw the turbulent ocean blue,
but everyone else was going that way,
so I thought I would too. Lemmings?

HAZRAT INAYAT KHAN
Belief and disbelief have divided mankind into so many sects, blinding its eyes to the vision of the oneness of all life.

You've got to accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative, don't mess with Mr. In-Between.

MARCO MORROW
It is a glorious privilege to live, to know, to act, to listen, to behold, to love.
To look up at the blue summer sky, to see the sun sink slowly beyond the line of the horizon,
to watch the worlds come twinkling into view, first one by one, and the myriads
that no man can count, and lo! the universe is white with them. And you and I are here.

SHENG-YEN
Be soft in your practice. Think of the method as a fine silvery stream,
not a raging waterfall.
Follow the stream, have faith in its course.
It will go its own way, meandering here, trickling there.
It will find the cracks, the crevices. Just follow it.
Never let it out of your sight. It will take you.

HENRY DAVID THOREAU
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
Live the life you've imagined.
As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.
Solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.
Live the life you've imagined.
As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.
Solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.

Those who experience the unity of life see their own
selves in all beings, and all beings in their own selves,
and look on everything with an impartial eye.

THICH NHAT NANH
Our smile will bring happiness to us and to those around us. Even if
we spend a lot of money on gifts for everyone in our family, nothing
we buy could give them as much happiness as the gift of our awareness,
our smile. And this precious gift costs nothing.

Sir FRANCIS DRAKE
There must be a beginning of any great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields the true glory.
